Common questions
Do the tenants have to leave during a flat roof job?
No. We work from the roof and close the building up watertight at the end of every day.
Repair or replace a flat roof?
If the problem is at the edges and the membrane is sound, a repair is usually enough. If it’s blistered and soft all over, it’s time for a new one. We’ll show you what we find.
Why does water sit on my flat roof after it rains?
Usually the drain is clogged, sits too high, or the roof has sagged around it. We clear and reset drains, and we can correct the slope when the roof is redone.
Can you repair the slate on my false mansard?
Yes. We replace broken or slipped slates by hand and redo the flashing where the mansard meets the roof and the cornice.
My cornice is rusting. Can it be saved?
Often, yes. We repair or remake the sheet metal and fix the flashing above it, so water stops running into the wall behind.
Does a new flat roof have to be white?
Many boroughs now ask for a white or highly reflective membrane when a flat roof is replaced. We confirm what your borough requires before we quote.
