Copper and zinc, shaped by hand

Some roofs need more than a standard product off the shelf. Montreal’s older homes are full of turrets, dormers, bay windows and cornices, and the metal on them has to be cut, folded and fitted by hand to look right and keep the water out.

Our crew takes on custom metal jobs in copper, zinc and prepainted steel, from a single chimney cap to a complete standing-seam roof.

Choosing the right metal

• Copper starts out bright, darkens to a deep brown over the years and eventually takes on the familiar green patina. It is one of the longest-lasting roofing materials there is.
  
• Zinc has a soft matte grey finish and forms its own protective patina. It suits modern homes and heritage buildings alike.
  
• Prepainted steel comes in a wide range of colours and is the budget-friendly choice for standing-seam roofs.
  

We also make sure metals that don’t get along, like copper and aluminum, never touch, so they can’t corrode each other.
